By Satyajeet Kumar: A group of 2018 Jharkhand Police, SI Manoj Kachhap, was fired for his connection and collusion with the banned Maoist team PLFI. Manoj Kachhap was found to have a close association with the feared Maoist PLFI Awadhesh Jaiswal alias Chuha Jaiswal.
Jaiswal, when he was arrested by the Jharkhand police in February 2022, confessed that he enjoyed close proximity with SI Manoj Kachhap. He had admitted that Kachhap was his police liaison who used to share information about the combing operation against the Maoists. Jaiswal had said that Kachhap instigated the PLFI in its operations.
After the disclosure and indictment of Chuha Jaiswal, SP Khunti Aman Kumar launched detailed departmental proceedings against SI Manoj Kachhap. In the investigation and departmental proceeding, SI Manoj Kachhap was found guilty and SP Aman Kumar had recommended the dismissal of the errant SI.
DIG Ranchi Anup Birthare, speaking to India Today by phone, said he fired Manoj Kachhap on the recommendation of SP Khunti. SP Khunti had recommended dismissal on the basis of the departmental procedure and the investigation carried out against Manoj Kachhap.
In his recommendation, Aman Kumar had revealed that IS was found to be sharing intelligence and from a security perspective, those officers needed to be removed immediately.
The layoff proposal was approved by DIG Ranchi in March 2023.
