so much for turning on the light and letting it shine.
Katy Perry was booed on “American Idol” Monday night for trying to dampen a contestant’s spark.
The 38-year-old “Firework” singer advised “Idol” hopeful Nutsa, 26, to trade in her sparkly silver dress and matching boots and pop diva dance moves for a more stripped-down performance after the contestant. done a high-energy version of “Paris (Ooh La La)” by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.
“Nutsa, every time you go on stage it’s like you bombard the stage with glitter,” Perry began his critique.
“Listen, one thing I’d like to see from you isn’t a glitter piece next time. I know it’s going to be difficult.”
“Ocean liner, maybe. only the [glitter] eyeliner,” Nutsa engaged in the comments.
The crowd at Aulani, Disney Resort & Spa in Kapolei, Hawaii, audibly took issue with Perry, and a sea of boos ensued.
Judges Luke Bryan, 46, and Lionel Richie, 73, stood up, stunned by the reaction.
“Yeah! Katy got booed!” Brian exclaimed.
“Okay, first time in six seasons. Wow! Perry applauded back.

“What I’m saying is that I would like you to change the script. I think we also want to be drawn to our hearts. I would love to see that and the United States too.”
The Post has contacted representatives for “Idol” and Perry for comment.

Fans previously criticized Perry for putting contestants, including Nutsa, through “psychological warfare” by making them believe they didn’t make the Top 26 on the show. Many contestants were excited that their journey was seemingly over until Perry revealed that they were moving on to the next round.
Perry was also accused of embarrassing the mother of quirky 25-year-old contestant Sara Beth Liebe during her audition. She then tried to redeem herself from her by begging Liebe not to leave the competition to return to her family, but ultimately failed.
