NEW DELHI, April 18: In a landmark decision, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has approved the conduct of the Personnel Selection Commission (SSC MTS) Multi-Task (Non-Technical) Staff Test and the CHSL Test for Positions in 15 languages ​​in total, that is, 13 regional languages ​​in addition to Hindi and English.
This was announced here today by the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science and Technology; Minister of State (Independent Position) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Complaints, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh, who is also the Minister in charge of the DoPT.
This historic decision was made at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to boost the participation of local youth and encourage regional languages, the minister said.
Apart from Hindi and English, the quiz will be set in all 13 regional languages ​​i.e. Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannad, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, Urdu, Punjabi, Manipuri (also Meiti) and Konkani. saying.
The decision will result in thousands of applicants taking the exam in their mother tongue/regional language and will improve their selection prospects.
There have been persistent demands from different states to conduct SSC exams in languages ​​other than English and Hindi. The government appointed a Committee of Experts to examine this aspect as well, among other things (review of the outline and syllabus of the exams carried out by the Commission).
The Committee of Experts in its report had recommended, inter alia, the following: “The study of SSC posts, especially the Group ‘C’ post, indicates that these posts are at the forefront of the interaction between government and the citizens. India being a multilingual country, it would be convenient to take exams 12 and 10 in multiple languages. To start with, SSC can start with 14 languages ​​as used by the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB) / Institute for Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) in their examinations and gradually increase to include all languages ​​mentioned in Schedule VIII of the Constitution ”.
The Government accepted this recommendation of the Committee of Experts and asked the SSC to develop the modalities.
To begin with, the Commission has decided to conduct the MTS Exam, 2022 and CHSLE Exam, 2022 in 15 languages ​​(13 regional languages ​​+ Hindi + English) as used by Institute for Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) / Railway Recruitment Boards. (RRB) to take your exam. The MTS Exam notice has already been issued. The notice for the CHSL exam in multiple languages ​​will be issued in May-June 2023.
The Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Complaints and Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh, said that attempts are being made to eventually incorporate all the languages ​​listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. He added that SSC continually works to ensure that all segments of the population have an equal opportunity to succeed in eliminating regional inequities and realizing the principles of the Constitution while recognizing and valuing our nation’s linguistic diversity.
