At least 21 people were injured when a state transport bus they were traveling in collided head-on with a trailer truck in the Palghar district of Maharashtra on Wednesday, police said.

The condition of five of the injured was serious and they were taken to the Civil Hospital in neighboring Thane, said an official from the Wada police station.

The accident took place in the village of Varle between Wada and Manor at around 8:45 am, it said.

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus was traveling from Wada to Manor when it collided with the truck, police said.
