Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtrian deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, has accused a fashion designer of trying to bribe her with Rs 1 crore instead of her “intervention” in a criminal case against her father. In a police complaint, he alleged that the woman, whom he identified as Aniksha, had been in contact with him for more than 16 months and visited her home on a few occasions. Subsequently, the woman allegedly sent video clips, voice notes and text messages to the wife of deputy CM and had been “threatening and conspiring” against her, the complaint read.

The FIR was registered on February 20.

Amruta Fadnavis also accused the woman’s father of threatening and conspiring against her. Police have registered a case against the duo in the sections dealing with conspiracy and corruption. Police are investigating the matter, but have so far made no arrests.

Fadnavis told police in a statement that Aniksha was a clothing, jewelry and shoe designer, The Indian Express reported, adding that the woman had approached her at public events seeking promotion for her products. Fadnavis agreed because she liked Anishka.

According to the complaint, they met in November 2021. He allegedly told Amruta Fadnavis that his mother had passed away and that she was taking care of his family’s finances. He met Amruta Fadnavis several times at public events and at her residence.

He once gave his products to Amruta Fadnavis to use. The material was returned to him or was donated by Fadnavis staff. She once gave her a necklace to wear to an event; Fadnavis, however, chose not to use it and returned it to him after three weeks, says the FIR.

Aniksha, according to FIR, told Fadnavis that her father had connections with some bookies. He allegedly told Fadnavis that they could make money by instructing the police to take legal action against them or directing them not to take action against them.

“She (Aniksha) offered that they can make money by instructing the police to take legal action against the bookies or they could also get money from them by not taking any action against them,” Amruta Fadnavis alleged in her statement to the police, according to The Indian Express.

Upset with the proposal, she asked Aniksha to get out of her car.

Aniksha allegedly offered Rs 1 crore to Fadnavis to save his father from a criminal case. Upon hearing the offer, Fadnavis blocked her phone number, after which she received a series of text messages and audio and video clips from an unknown number.
