IIT Madras to offer a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Systems

On March 6, Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan will inaugurate the Bachelor of Science (BS) program in Power Systems at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. The program will be launched virtually by the minister. The BS degree program will start at 11 am The launch of the last BS program will be broadcast live on YouTube.

IIT Madras offers a bachelor’s degree program in Electronic Systems to meet India’s substantial and growing requirement for skilled individuals in the electronics and embedded technology industries. The institute stated that this is the institute’s second BS program, following the BS program in Data Science and Applications. He mentioned that 17,000 students will enroll in the first BS program. The new four-year curriculum will help the nation address the growing need for students proficient in the electronics and embedded primary industries.

Students who meet the minimum required scores in the entrance exam can continue with the program because the number of places in the Bachelor of Electronic Systems program is not restricted. Throughout the course, students will receive recorded lectures, weekly exams, study materials, seminars, and engaging question-and-answer discussions.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • All individuals earning a Class 12 (or similar) diploma, regardless of age, role, or geographic region, are eligible to apply.
  • Students at the school who have completed their Class 11 final exams (with Physics and Mathematics as study subjects) are eligible to apply.
  • Individuals who have completed Class 12 can apply to IIT Madras for BS degree in Electronic Systems. The curriculum is designed for students and employees of all ages so that they can learn at IIT Madras without having to take the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), the institute claims.
  • A student who qualified for JEE Advanced 2022 or 2023 instantly qualifies for admission and can enroll in classes at the foundation level of the BS program.

IIT Madras stated that the fee structure would be reasonable. Students in the SC/ST/PWD categories, as well as those with a household income of less than Rs.5 lakh per year, would qualify for additional scholarships from the institute. Details on the entire fee structure are yet to come.
