We have finally turned the corner into the spring. And after a bit of a post-holiday lull, things in the work-at-home world are looking up! This is the time of year when we see many remote jobs contracts to cover the next season of travel and removals. We’re also starting to see some jobs open in some other popular industries.

The top companies hiring remote workers this season
Spring is a great time to look for open jobs. Every season usually brings something different when it comes to remote work. Here are some remote work options you can find on your favorite job board right now:
u haul – U-Haul offers a variety of products, from moving trucks to storage and roadside assistance. Summer is a busy time of year for them. As such, we typically see an increase in the hiring of remote employees around this time of year.
hilton – Travel is once again on the rise and many companies in this industry are again hiring remote workers for take reservations and field customer service calls. Hilton is one of them.
Measurement – test score It is a seasonal position but highly sought after by members of this community. In many cases, no experience is necessary, but you will need a bachelor’s degree. In addition to Measurement, BCforward, Pearson and others are hiring for this remote position.
Raise K-12 – If you have a teaching degree, you may not have a problem finding job openings for online teachers. This particular company is currently hiring teachers for Computer Science, Science, ASL, Math, German, and more. There are so many other companies in this industry as well. ebay – Not surprisingly, e-commerce has been on the rise over the last year. And not necessarily just an increase in buyers but also in sellers. We’ve recently seen eBay hire remote employees for their customer service roles. His most recent position offered full-time hours and benefits.
BuzzFeed – We are seeing a lot of news and content websites shrinking. freelance writers this season. In the case of the BuzzFeed family of websites, they are looking for freelance writers for a three-month contract. Since their sites cover current news topics, this one requires a set schedule, but many writing roles don’t. Bustle and Dotdash are two other great companies to go to for freelance writing positions.
English – Many online education companies are looking for remote tutors. Landi English offers English as a Second Language, or ESL, classes. Some companies in this industry do not require a teaching certificate, others do. In almost all cases, you’ll need a bachelor’s degree in any subject and be able to get a TESOL or TEFL certification.
This is just a small sample of what is out there. And new remote job postings appear on popular job boards like Indeed and FlexJobs every day.
What kind of setup do you need to work remotely?
The type of home office setup you’ll need for a remote job will largely depend on the job. With a freelance writing job, for example, you may only need a laptop and a wireless internet connection to complete your remote work. On the other hand, with a work-at-home customer service position, you may need to have a newer desktop PC, landline phone, and headset. And even work-from-home-by-phone requirements can vary from position to position and company to company.
To find out what equipment requirements you will need, read the job description completely and carefully. If something out of the ordinary will be needed, it is usually stated upfront even before you apply.

The type of jobs available to remote workers continues to grow each year. This was especially the case in the course of 2020, as remote work trends changed dramatically and rapidly. There are more industries online than ever before. What should you look for in a remote location?
A remote job search can be exciting, especially if you’re new to the world of working from home. But, you’ll want to do your research. You will want to weigh the pros and cons You’ll want to make sure you can complete the job you’re applying for satisfactorily or it could be a bad experience for everyone involved.
Some things to look for:
- Is this position for a remote employee or independent contractor? You will need to know this for tax purposes.
- It is this flexible workor will your schedule be dictated by the company?
- Will any training be paid or unpaid?
- Will you be paid by the hour, by active time only, by project, or by some other metric entirely?
Many times this information can be found on job listings, other times you may need to visit the company’s website for your remote work policy o Ask these questions during the interview process.
You’ll also want to maintain some level of skepticism about any remote jobs you come across. There are many scammers who take advantage of people who are desperate to work from home. They will even pose as well-known companies to try to get you to hand over your personal information.
A couple of things to keep in mind:
- If it smells too good to be true, it probably is.
- With the exception of the occasional background check, you shouldn’t have to send a bunch of money to a company to get a job. (A business opportunity, perhaps. But not a job.)
- Legitimate jobs online do not conduct interviews on Facebook Messenger or other messaging services. And they don’t pressure you on Messenger to hand over passwords, banking information, or buy gift cards.
- They also do not send you money orders to buy equipment and ask you to return the excess. That’s a classic check cashing scheme. And you will be hooked!
It can take a while to get hired at a legitimate remote job, but don’t give up.
Keep in mind that finding your first remote job will likely take some time. It can be hard not to try to rush things, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Always do your research. If you’re not sure if an offer is from a legitimate or fake company, contact the company directly and ask. (This is especially important if you don’t remember applying for a position in the first place!)
