Corporation disconnected the supply of drinking water to delinquent property tax
Madurai Corporation disconnected the drinking water connection of a resident who failed to pay property tax for the last seven years to the civic body in Villapuram on Friday.
According to the press release, the resident of the Karpagam Nagar property at Villapuram in ward 91 has not paid property taxes totaling Rs. 23,280 to the civic body from 2015-16.
Despite the fact that the Corporation issued a notice to the resident and that officials later visited the house requesting payment of back taxes, the resident did not pay the debt. When the water connection was cut off, the Treasury and Corporation officials were there.
Since he did not pay the installment amount within the given specific time, the corporation officials disconnected the water connection.
Officials have been vigorously collecting property tax, underground sewage tax, and drinking water tax from private organizations, hospitals, government buildings, private schools, shopping malls, and theaters over the past month.
