IIFT Advisory 2023; Procedure and Selection Process

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade Entrance Examination is also known as IIFT. The IIFT body invites online MBA applications from candidates interested in pursuing an MBA in International Business (IB). The IIFT has campuses in Delhi, Kolkata and Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh).

IIFT Advisory 2023

Admission to IIFT will be based on a written test, interview and group discussion. The entry period will begin after the results are published. Candidates who wish to gain admission to the management courses provided by IIFT are required to undergo counselling.

First, IIFT will administer an entrance exam to shortlisted students.
After the publication of the results, the students will be contacted for a personal interview and a group discussion. Selected candidates participate in MBA programs at IIFT.

Highlights of the IIFT selection process in 2023

  • The GMAT or IIFT entrance exam is used to determine admission to IIFT (for foreign candidates).
  • There is no further application process; students will be admitted solely based on their performance on the IIFT 2023 exam.
  • The cut-off percentiles established after the publication of the IIFT 2023 results are used to assess the candidates by the IIFT admissions authority.
  • Each shortlisted candidate must participate in the PI and Extempore rounds.
  • Any candidate who does not appear in this round will have their application rejected.

counseling session

As part of the admission process, the IIFT 2023 counseling will take place. As the exam result is already declared, the counseling dates will be announced soon.
Candidates are shortlisted by the institute based on their percentile.
The IIFT selection process will be carried out for the applicants who reached the minimum limit of the examining authority. The admission process consists of three steps, and all students who achieve cut-off grades or higher will be considered for the IIFT selection process. In addition, candidates must take the Writing Ability Test (WAT), the GD, and the PI.

Counseling Procedure

Written exam

In this round, candidates are given a topic on which to write their opinions in approximately 200 words. The emphasis is on expressing one’s thoughts clearly. Address the issue directly and to the point.

IIFT Advisory 2023

Candidates are classified into eight groups. Each group is assigned a topic of business, economics, politics, or society for 20 minutes (5 minutes to think, 15 minutes to write).

group discussion

During the GD round, a group of 8-10 candidates are assigned a topic to discuss. Each contestant introduces themselves and shares their thoughts on the topic at the start of the GD. After everyone has spoken, the floor is free for discussion. This round has a total time limit of 30 minutes.

If the institute decides to hold a jam session instead of a GD, applicants will be required to speak on a certain topic. Candidates will be asked to present a coherent and compelling argument on their chosen topic, including pros and cons, among other things. Candidates who pass the GD round will be eligible for the PI rounds.

Personal interview

Candidates will be called one at a time for interviews.
Again, the main purpose of the interview is to test the candidate’s communication skills, knowledge of business and current events, and a variety of other characteristics.

Candidates who pass these rounds will be admitted to the IIFT MBA programme. Finally, final merit will be determined based on the total combined scores across all stages of the IIFT Selection Procedure 2023, including the candidate’s IIFT score, GD, PI, and previous academic records.
